Homestay in Banasthali/Dhukedhar near Thamel, by Swayambhunath Stupa Monkey Temple
Our home has a lovely roof garden room for rent with an attached toilet/bath and a double bed. We are able to accommodate more guests as well. We also have one room for 1 person with a single bed, and another for 3 people with three single beds. These share a common toilet/bath. Also on our roof deck, available are European standard tents we will erect for guests who want. From the roof deck 4 floors above the street, one can see Swoyambhunath Stupa( Monkey temple) on a near hill, and the Himalaya Langtang Area Mountains in the distance.
Our home is in a quiet neighborhood of well-built family homes. It is away from the noise of roads and the dust of traffic. Between Swayambhunath and Banasthali Ring Road, it is a 15 minute walk from the Thamel District which is the tourist and shopping center of Kathmandu. The Monkey Temple is a 7 minute walk. The International Airport is approximately 20 minutes by taxi. Taxis and the Pokhara tourist bus stop on the Ring Road are just 2 minutes from the house.
Our home is furnished with solar hot water and showers. It has WiFi Internet access and an international landline telephone. Our modern kitchen has lots of counter space, a gas cooker, a refrigerator, and coffee making appliances. Breakfast and meals are available with the family or you can use the kitchen to make your own food (no meat please-we are Buddhist). On the roof garden, we grow our own favorite herbal teas, mint and lemon grass, which we love to make for our guests.
In our house, we, Palsang and my wife, Maya Tamang have raised three children. We are Buddhist from the Tamang Ethnic Area of Kavre, our village is Thulo Parsel. I, Palsang, have had a long career as a mountain trek tourist guide. For twelve years I have operated my own company, Himalayan Vacation Treks Expedition Pvt Limited in Kathmandu. Before, I worked as the guide for the Dutch trekking company HT Wandelreizen. I have had much experience and have led treks throughout Nepal, in Buhtan, Tibet, and the Indian Himalaya. I am happy to help my guests with any of your inquiries, plans, trekking, and ticketing needs. Just please let me know how I can assist. firstname.lastname@example.org

I stayed with Palsang and his wife in their home in Kathmandu and it was a great experience. I was welcomed at the airport as I had never been to Nepal before I felt that I was safe and taken care of in an excellent way. The room was clean and I had great sleep, it was wonderful to have the feeling of staying in a family environment. Palsang took great care to make sure I got to my destination every morning for my teachings which was nearby, helping me in every way he could with everything I needed. I had breakfast and dinner in the home which was very convenient for me and very tasty!! 🙂
I stayed in this room for 5 months in 2013 and it was perfect. The room is clean and relatively quiet. The shower works well at all times which is a miracle in Kathmandu. The best part of staying in this room is Palsang and his brilliant family. They are relaxed warm people who are very welcoming and kind. The location is fantastic - you are closest to Swayambhunath and a quick bus or taxi ride to thamel and other areas in Kathmandum. Banasthali Ring Road, Round 15 mins walk from Thamel.
Together with three friends from Holland I have stayed in the house of Palsang and Maya for 5 nights. We have had a very nice time, with the great view, the relaxed atmosphere and the very good food of Maya. Palsang and Maya are very good hosts and they really took good care of us. Palsang also helped me with some important things for my travelling through Nepal. Greetings, Wout
