It is called the winter season in Nepal. It is a season for snowfall in mountain region above 4300m in Nepal. So trekking is possible below 4500m during this period. This season is noted for occasional snowfall at higher elevations in Himalayas. Though it gets colder in night, often it offers the clear day / blue sky and relatively less trekkers on the trail.Sunrise and Sunset are seen very clear and beautiful in this season. During this period, we arrange family tour to experience natural beauty with short hikings and cultural tour.It is suitable for homestay tour through which different rituals and culture can be experienced during this period. It is spring season which is known as trekking season in Nepal. A smooth wind and gentle breeze is felt all over the country. It is the season of expedition and climbing high peaks in Nepal .So many tourist from different parts of the world come to climb peaks above 7000m in this season. It is rainy season in Nepal. As it is the season of heavy rainfall. it is also known as the crops harvesting season in Nepal. In this season, trekking is slight difficult in Nepal. These times are blessed for the keen botanist as the higher valleys and meadows blossom with flowers and lush vegetation. Trekking in the rain-shadow (places are out of reach of the rain clouds because of the high mountains) areas north of the Himalaya like Upper Mustang and Dolpo could be an ideal trek selection. However, Himalayan vacation Treks and Expedition arranges tour and trek during this period in dry areas. We arrange treks and tour in dry areas like Mustang , Upper Dolpa , Leh Ladakh (India) and Tibet.
September , October and November
Moderate temperatures, clear sky with outstanding views, making it a great time to do any of our trek. Occasional short storms may dump snow at high altitudes.This is the season of feast and festivals. This is also known as the special season for flowers in Nepal. Marigold is the popular and found best in this season. Temples and holy places are visited during this period. Festivals like Dashain , Tihar and Chhath are celebrated during this season. Long national holidays are offered for this festival for civil workers. This season is known as the king of the season. No rainfall, sunny days and moderate temperature are the most favourable factors of this season for treks and tours in Nepal.Every kind of treks and tours can be done during this period.So many tourist come to see beautiful Nepal in this season. Many trekking routes are full of tourist during this season. Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1337m)
You are welcomed to Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal renowned for historical monuments, Hindu Temples, and Buddhist Stupas/Monasteries. We meet our guests at the Tribhuvan International Airport. A representative will be waiting with a Himalayan Vacation Treks and Expedition placard with our guests’ names displayed. After dropping luggage at the hotel, guests are taken for a short sightseeing tour. In the evening, guests are invited to a Welcome Dinner at a Nepali restaurant.
Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu (1337m)
A local guide will be available. According to your wishes, the guide will escort you for sightseeing. Sightseeing may include the Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupati, Boudhanath, Patan Durbar Square, and the Swoyambhunath areas. Starting after breakfast, usually at 9.00am, the exploration of Kathmandu Valley can continue until 5.00pm. Lunch and dinner, you will be responsible for.
Day 03: Kathmandu-Syabrubesi (1,503m) 8-9 hours by bus
We start early bus journey to Syabrubesi; the starting point of the trek. After Trisuli Bazaar the road is little difficult because of the grubby road. During the travel we pass through many small and villages on the way. We reach Dhunche, the headquarter of Rasuwa District, a small city in the hills. But we don’t stop here. We head to Syabrubesi a beautiful Tamang village, where we spend the night,
Day 04: Shyabru Besi to Chawatar to Gatlang (2337m) 5- 6 hours walking Following the zig zag track to the west upto Bahun Dada, we reach the beautiful Tamang village Gatlang . The famous holy kunda (lake ) Parvati Kunda lies above the village where the famous feast Janaipurnima is celebrated ,gathered thousands of people near by the temple.
Day 05: Gatlang – Parvati Kund- Yuri Kharka (lunch) – Somdang (3271m) 6-7 hours The trail ascends through pine and rhododendron forest to a begining point of Yuri Kharka before continuing to Khurpu Bhanjyang and then dropping down to the Somdang River, the border between Rasuwa and Dhading districts. A sprawling mining compound, no longer functioning but it seems local people appealing government to revive it, lies a few hours to the north up river. The hike passes through a scenic valley featuring the 200 m Chukarma Waterfall. The former mine leaves a lot be explored and is the site of a 1.4 km tunnel bored into the mountain to extract zinc, copper, tin, crystal and even highly-prized rubies.
Day 06: Somdang to Pangsang (aka, Pangsang) Pass (La)- (3842m) 3 ½ hours walking After breakfast trek gently uphill passing through beautiful jungle and mesmerizing surrounding landscapes including Langtang Mountain range.Pangsang Kharka is the best view point of this area. In the southwest ,the beautiful Somdang village with broad panorama and north is with Mount Manaslu and Ganesh Himal. The large meadow is graced with a giant entry gateway and is a sensational location for camping with breathtaking scenaries.The whole Ganesh Himal route is famous for ancient trade route through with trading of livestock salt and wool was done.Yak huts can be taken for passing overnight in this route. Langtang ranges , Ganesh Himal range and Manaslu Himal can be seen very beautiful from this route.
Day 07: Pangsang Pass to Tipling – Shertung (1875m) 5-6 hours Descend to Tipling, a large village that hosts two Buddhist Gompas and both a Protestant and Catholic church. Along a ridge top to the east is a Gompa and cremation ground for both Buddhists and Christians lined with colorful flags. As the village contains majority of Tamang people it has beautiful Tamang culture show. Descend to cross the Adha Khola on a box bridge and ascend to the sister villages of Shertung and Chalish, regally over looking the fertile river valley and abundant fields. Shertung is inhabited mainly by Tamang. The name Shertung means “place of gold’. According to a legend, two brothers in search of gold were led here by a dream and thus the settlement was born. Tamang people have own rich culture to show Jhankri or shaman dance, ghode or horse for the visitors.
If any one planning 7 days trekking, from Shertung or Chalish village simply trek all the down hill to Jharlang village taking about 5-6 hours walk(1 day walk) overnight and on next day walk to Darkha Phedi taking 4-5 hours finally take sharing local Jeep with other people and drive to Dhading Besi (3-4 hours driving) soon you arrive, you continue drive back Kathmandu taking about 3 hours driving by local bus or a private car/vehicle. So in total taking 1 ½ day walking and half day drive or let’s say in 2 days you will get back to Kathmandu.
Day 08: Chalish to Neber Gaon (2220m ) 5- 6 hours After breakfast say goodbye to locals and trek down to Chalish village, 20 minutes down hill wlaki which is probably one of the most friendliest and hospitality village of the area. Quick visit Tin Kanya Hindu temple pass thorough small but beautiful village and then trek continue to Khar Khola and then trek gently up to Pasabar danda takes about an hour walk. View of Tribeni river mixed of three rivers. Hindus and both Buddhist believe as a holy river. Just right edge of the Tribeni river Lord Shiva’s statue with little one stoned shrine has built. Especially in Magesakranti(January)festival local gather and celebrate singing, dancing and meeting friends and relatives as well as neighbors village kith and ken. From Pasabar danda trek gently uphill hill and reach at Kalbarang (just the small kharka name but no village or human settlement) trek continues to the hill edge walk and dense jungle. There is a chance of rock fall from top of the hill due to inhabitant of wildlife so careful walking with your trek guide or helper. Finally reach at Hindung village where huge number of Tamang people live. It is a Tamang village of around 550 inhabitants. Crystals and rubies are harvested in areas to the north and yarsagumba is hunted too, in the surrounding highlands. Take lunch in Hindung and trek down to Hindung Khola and then trek uphill to Neber Gaon walking about 2 ½ hours. Overnight at local house or camp near by local village of Tamang village.
Day 09: Neber – hot springs – Kupchyat (2066m) 4- 5 hours Trek down hill to Tatopani (hot springs) where enjoy your half day with bath and then the trail onward follows stone steps built by Kadoorie Agri Aid Association and British Gurkhas of Nepal. Both organizations are active in this area and responsible for building many water taps, bridges and improved trails. After having lunch at Hot Spring our trek continues passing through hairpin hill edge walk, A careful walk is high recommended in this area along with your guide. Passing through Tir Gaon on the way to welcoming Racyat and Kapur villages,finally arrive in Kupchyat village. Over night in camp/local house of Tamang village.
Day 10: Kupchyat – Khading – Lapa Gaon (2025m/ 6660Ft) 4-5 hrs
Passing through local paddy terraces and amazing views of Lapa Gaon and its surrounding landscape we reach Kupchyat. In Khading village/Gaon you will see a big community of Gurung people having their own beautiful culture. While you will be waiting your lunch explore Khading gaon and after lunch trek down to Lapa Gaon which is a big Tamang village of the area where you will enjoy to watch Tamang culture.
Day 11: Lapa Gaon – Borang (lunch) – Jharlang (Ungul) (3000m) 5-6 hours After breakfast trek down to Ankhu khola having its beautiful water fall views ,our trek continues bit uphill to Borang village.We stop for lunch and then trek continues passing through Ukhum and Lishne jungle, crossing suspension bridge. We walk a bit uphill and then reach at Chhapchyat village. We walk stone steps uphill about 2 hours and half and then finally we reach at Jharlang village (Ungul). This village is one of the biggest Tamang villages of the area and a breathtaking panoramic mountain view point. Nearly 200 Tamang houses are situated here.
Day 12: Jharlang (Ungul) – Kuri – Khaniyabas (1785m) 7-8 hours After taking breakfast at the same place,we walk all the way down toJharlang landslide ,takes about an hour to cross. Crossing with your trek guide will be very convenient and during monsoon its bit slippery so careful ! Just after crossing landscape our trek to Ukhum trek continues all the way down hill to Dungre Khola about 1 ½ hours down hill walking. We cross suspension bridge and uphill walking about 2 ½ hours to get to Kuri Village. This is also a Tamang village lies right on the top of the hill from where you will see the beautiful surrounding landscape ,Ganesh Himal ranges and mountain views. There is no village or tea shops in between Kaule to Kuri village so some snacks or dry fruits will be very useful to carry with you unless you take heavy breakfast. A bottle of boiled water will be very useful. Great water fall views, paddy terraces and short walk of jungle is experienced which makes your interesting interesting of the day. After lunch trek continue and passing through Birchet village finally we reach at Khaniyabas Village or so called it Satya Devi. It’s about 2 ½ hours walk from lunch spot and Satya Devi has several local lodges/tea shops for the trekkers. , it will be nice to camp next to school or Barchhala temple because small bush and open ground space will make our camping convenient. On the clear weather day, you will have the best and breath taking sun set views. Ankhu river views and Todke hill in horizon gives you magnificent landscape scenery. Tamang, Bhramin and Dalit people live in Khaniyabas.
Day 13: Khaniyabas – Megang Danda (3220m) 5-6 hours After breakfast we will have easy walk about an hour to Thambu Khola and then trek all the stone steps uphill walking Kimdang gaon (2 ½ hours walking) stop for lunch and trek to Megang Danda walking a big dense jungle right on the hill top. In dense jungle, we may encounter with wild animals so trek with your guide or helper is highly recommended on this day. There is a dirt road in Kimtang to Trisuli Bazaar so you will get a sharing local jeep only in winter season. In the monsoon ,it is impossible to drive due to muddy track/road. Megang is another breath taking mountain View point on this day from where you will experience of 270 degrees mountain views. There are several lodges but lodges removed due to road construction. however there is a basic lodges for the trekkers/travelers to spend a night.
Day 14: Megang Danda – Trisuli Bazaar – Kathmandu (1310m)5– 6 hours walk and 4 hours driving You may trek to Trisuli Bazaar 6 hours down hill scenic walking or walk up to Deurali 1 ½ hours walking and then share local bus/Jeep with other people to Trisuli Bazaar (2 hours driving) and then continue to drive back to Kathmandu by local bus (4 hours driving) or a private car/vehicle.
Day 15: Shopping /Rest in Kathmandu in Bhaktapur (1401m) Sightseeing 3-4 hours
This day is free too. If you wish, a sightseeing trip to the ancient temple/king’s seat of the world heritage site of incredible Bhaktapur can be arranged. The tour lasts 4 hours, and will cost an additional upcharge. In the evening, a Farewell Dinner is given by Himalayan Vacation Treks and Expedition.
Day 16 Departure from Kathmandu (1337m)
A Himalayan Vacation Treks and Expedition staff representative will take our valuable guests to the airport (3 hours prior to your flight) and bid goodbye. It will be not only goodbye, but also the welcome for next visit to Nepal.
