Buddhist  Wedding in Nepal.

Himalaya Vacation Treks and Expedition offers a special wedding package. If your are betrothed lovebirds, newlyweds honeymooning in Nepal, a seasoned couple, man and wife consider while in Nepal a Buddhist wedding ceremony.  If you are touring/trekking with us, Himalayan Vacation Treks and Expeditions, perhaps adding a romantic wedding ceremony would become the highlight of your trip together. The sky’s the limit for your ideas . We can arrange your wedding ceremony at a high altitude like Everest Base Camp. Imagine exchanging vows in the beauty and sacredness of a Buddhist Gumpa (meditation hall of a monastery which is incredibly decorated with thanka painting, Buddhist statues). Or consider having your ceremony in a small Buddhist village with your wedding honored and genuinely celebrated by the local villagers.  Himalayan Vacation Treks especially offers their home village, Thulo Parsel in Kavre, as a joyous place for your nuptials.

We first started to arrange marriages at the request of one our trekking clients and friends. The heartfelt ceremony of our Danish friends Sussi and Jorgen at Pal Dargyeleng Gompa in Swayambhu, was most inspiring to us.  Gabriel Goes and Marieke Landastra of the Netherlands were married at Gym Sumdo Gompa, in Swayambhu on the 2nd of November in 2014.  Nori from Japan and Manjhu Tamang from Nepal were married in May of 2018, and Himalayan Vacation Treks and Expeditions arranged a traditional Nepali Buddhist ceremony in Kathmandu.

A traditional Tibetan Buddhist wedding is performed by a Lama (Buddhist priest) in a monastery Gompa. The bride and groom wear Tibetan ceremonial dress.  If preferred, the ceremony can be done in a traditional Nepali style. The groom and the bride are dressed in classic Nepali wedding costumes. The bride is dressed in a fine red and gold sari, and wears a red veil. The groom wears the traditional handsome Daura-suruwal coat, and Nepali Dhaka Topi (cap). At the finish, to sanctify the union, the groom sprinkles Sindur (red sacred powder) on the head of the bride.

In Nepal, receptions after a wedding are a must and are done with much eating, traditional music, and dancing. Himalayan Vacation Treks  will work with you to have your wedding and reception done the way you wish.  The costs of a Nepali wedding will vary as to the size. Large city venues with many guests will be more expensive than a village wedding. Himalayan Vacation Treks will also assist in the necessary legal documentation if you require such.  You will also receive a wedding certificate (to be framed) acknowledging your Nepali wedding.
