This incredible 14-day adventure takes you deep into Nepal’s iconic Khumbu region. The journey begins with a scenic flight to Lukla, followed by a trek through traditional Sherpa villages and majestic alpine landscapes. The trail leads to the pristine Gokyo Lakes before ascending the challenging Cho La Pass (5,330m), bringing you into the heart of the Khumbu Valley above Lobuche. From here, the route continues toward the highlights of the trek: Kalapatthar and Everest Base Camp (5,364m), offering unmatched views of Mount Everest and surrounding giants.
The Khumbu region is home to several of the world’s highest peaks, including Cho Oyu (8,201m), Makalu (8,463m), Lhotse (8,516m), and Everest (8,848m). This breathtaking landscape is not only a feast for the eyes but also rich in culture. The area is inhabited by the Sherpa people, known for their resilience, hospitality, and deep-rooted Tibetan Buddhist traditions. You’ll encounter centuries-old monasteries, stone-built villages, and colorful prayer flags fluttering in the mountain breeze.
Your journey takes you through Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed not only for its natural beauty but also for legendary tales of the elusive Yeti. The trails from Lukla to Everest Base Camp and Gokyo are bustling with life—trekkers, porters, and trains of yaks, mules, and horses, which are essential for transporting goods in this roadless region.
Himalayan Vacation Treks and Expedition classifies this route as strenuous due to the high altitudes and the challenge of crossing high mountain passes like the Cho La. It is recommended for fit trekkers seeking a rewarding and unforgettable Himalayan experience.

Also Important: on Domestic Flight (Kathmandu – Lukla)
The Government of Nepal has announced an issue for the flight operation to Lukla. Due to heavy traffic congestion in Kathmandu airport, most of the flights from and to Lukla are managed from Ramechhap airport which is located 130km from Kathmandu (approximately 3-4 hours drive). However, direct flight from Kathmandu to Lukla is available in off-seasons.
Alternatively, helicopter arrangements can be made on 4 people sharing basis with the addition of USD $ 550 for one-way flight per person to change your airplane flights to the helicopter. We will try to coordinate and form groups at the airport for this arrangement, but we cannot guarantee it. The jeep drive to Ramechhap and flight to Lukla is almost always guaranteed unless the flight is canceled due to bad weather conditions.
Travelers are suggested to advise us on the preferred alternatives for the flights to/from Lukla affected due to possible delays or disruptions.

Many trekkers stay here at least one or for several days for acclimatization. Especially the Friday and Saturday markets are very famous here. People from far and near come to make their business. Various things (local and imported) are displayed for sale. Especially people from Khumbu area (upper Namche Bazzar) come for shopping here on those market days.

From here, the path ascends through alpine terrain with sparse vegetation as it enters the Imja Valley. The final stretch to Dingboche provides us panoramic views of Lhotse, Island Peak, and surrounding peaks, making it a visually rewarding part of the Everest region trek.
Day 08: Dingboche – Lobuche (4910 m) 4-5 hours
The path goes slightly uphill. We walk slowly since we are walking in the high altitude. The view is spectacular from all the parts of this trek. We view the famous Khumbu glacier. After a short rest, we continue to Everest Base Camp, navigating a rugged path with views of the Khumbu Icefall and towering Himalayan peaks. Though Mount Everest itself isn’t visible from the Base Camp, the sense of achievement and the surrounding alpine scenery are unforgettable. After soaking in the experience, we return the same way to Lobuche, completing a full-day hike.
Day: 10: Lobuche – Dzonglha BC (4830 m) 3-4 hours
Today we trek from Lobuche to Dzongla and onward to Dzongla Base Camp (Dzongla BC) is a scenic and relatively less-traveled route in the Everest region. From Lobuche, the trail gently descends and then traverses the side of the valley, offering stunning views of towering peaks like Ama Dablam, Taboche, and Cholatse. The path to Dzongla is narrow in parts but peaceful, passing by glacial streams and alpine meadows before reaching the small settlement of Dzongla, nestled below the Cho La Pass. From Dzongla, a short hike leads to Dzongla Base Camp, the staging point for crossing the Cho La Pass. This place offers a serene contrast to the busier Everest Base Camp route.
Day 11: Dzongla – Cho La Pass (5330m) – Dragnag (4700m) 7-8 hours
Today we trek from Dzongla to Dragnag via the Cho La Pass is one of the most dramatic and challenging sections of the Everest region. The trail starts with a steep ascent from Dzongla, gradually climbing over rocky terrain and icy sections toward the high-altitude Cho La Pass. The pass itself offers breathtaking views of surrounding peaks like Cholatse and Ama Dablam, with a glacier crossing that may require caution, especially in icy conditions. After reaching the top, the descent is steep and sometimes slippery, leading down into the remote valley toward Dragnag for this section of trek we require good fitness and acclimatization.
Day 12: Dragnag – Gokyo (4790 m) 3-4 hours
Today first we walk through the Ngozumba Glacier. No bridge over the glacier at all but moraines and ice everywhere. No need to worry because the path is not so difficult to cross through the glacier but must be careful. We meet the first small lake of Gokyo region called Longpogo. Then we meet second lake called Tabache Tsho on the way. We head to Gokyo where there is the main lake called Dudh Pokhari, means the pond of Milk. In this lake the local people gather on the day of Full moon called Janai Purnima that falls in the month of August. Gokyo is the campsite with the internet and telephone facility.

Day 14: Gokyo – Kele (Gyele) (4110 m) 3-4 hours
Today we trek from Gokyo to Kele which is a less-traveled, scenic route that offers us a peaceful journey through remote alpine terrain. Leaving the stunning Gokyo Valley and its turquoise lakes behind, the trail ascends gradually over rugged paths and grassy ridgelines, with panoramic views of peaks like Cho Oyu and the Ngozumpa Glacier. The route to Kele (often a stop enroute to the Renjo La Pass) winds through high pastures and small yak herder shelters, providing a serene contrast to the busier Everest Base Camp trails.
Day 15: Kele – Sanasa (3520m) 4-5 hours
The path goes downhill upto Phortse Tenga. On the way we walk through Dole where there are a few lodges. Then we cross the place called Tenga. After Tenga we walk nearly along the Dudhkoshi River. From Sanasa, the trail gently descends to Namche Bazaar, the bustling Sherpa town perched on a hillside, where trekkers often rest before the long descent. Continuing downhill, the path winds through pine forests, crosses the Dudh Koshi River multiple times, and passes through villages like Monjo and Phakding. The final stretch involves a steady climb back up to Lukla, where the trek concludes.
Day 17: Lukla – Kathmandu (1337 m) Flight 30 minutes
Today we wait for the plane to fly Kathmandu. Who knows? We will come back to this region again or not in our life. So, we may have look around for the last view of the Everest region.
