A war between Nepal and Tibet broke about 150 years ago for salt, and some of the biggest areas where the war took place were in the Langtang Region of Nepal. The “Tamang Heritage Trek” is the newly developed tourism product which highlights an ancient lifestyle combining it with picturesque views and healing baths in natural hot spring. Hence, the trekking arranged by Himalayan Vacation Treks and Expedition along this unbeaten trail will be a new experience for the travelers exploring the beautiful mountains with the culture of local Tamang people. The inhabitants of this area are believed to be the offspring of Tibetans from the Kerung in Tibet across the border and settled in Nepal Later on; they intermingled with Tamang of the Helambu area. In earlier days, the citizenship of Nepal would not be offered to real Tibetans, so they changed their ethnicity to Tamang, which is what they still write till date. The cultures and traditions of these people are similar yet to the Tibetan across the border. Since November 2015, the Kerung pass is open for Nepal for the trade with China.
