Trekking Around Manaslu
The trekking season in Nepal begins in September, as summer transitions into autumn. Himalayan Vacation Treks and Expedition is fully prepared to host guests eager to explore Manaslu, which means “the mountain of spirit” in the local language. Since its opening to expeditions in 1992, Manaslu has seen a 60% success rate in summits, making it one of Nepal’s most popular peaks after Everest. While climbing the peak requires physical strength, determination, and technical skill, many trekkers opt to explore the base camp and enjoy the surrounding scenic beauty.
The trek passes through several villages inhabited by the Gurung and Magar communities at lower elevations. As you ascend, you’ll reach a valley influenced by Tibetan culture. The local farmers cultivate crops such as buckwheat, barley, and potatoes, with some also growing a variety of other vegetables. Local villagers have established tea houses that offer food and lodging, providing a warm hospitality unique to the region. They serve “chha chya,” a local tea made with butter and salt, and local wine “Chhyang” or brandy ”Airak” brewed from local food grains.
The team and guides at HV Treks are dedicated to ensuring that all guests receive exceptional service and support throughout their treks.
