Tsum Valley trek is one of Nepal’s remote Himalayan Valleys treks and it was a restricted region until a few years ago. Tsum Valley is a secluded and sacred Himalayan pilgrimage situated in northern Gorkha part district of Nepal. Tsum comes from the Tibetan word ‘Tsombo’, which means vivid. Traditionally, Tsum valley was a distinct geographical area called ‘Tsum Tso Chucksums’, which means thirteen provinces ruled as a single territory.  Set within the majestic backdrop of the Ganesh Himal, Churkoe Himal, Boudha Himal mountains, the valley is rich in ancient art, culture, and religion. The local people are of Tibetan origin and speak their own dialect. Their cultural traditions are unique. They celebrate the Tibetan festivals of Lhosar, Dhacyhang, Saga Dawa and Faning.  Polyandry is practiced. Often, the brothers of a family are married to a single girl. HV Treks  team & Guide will introduce you to the local people and explain such traditions. Villagers claim they have seen or found signs of Mehti or ‘Yeti’ (the Abominable Snowman). Killing of animal for meat is strictly prohibited in this valley. Tsumanubri Rural Municipality held the village assembly recently & passed the Tsum Shayagya Act, 2079, (Anti- animal killing act) and implemented it.
